
Six states led by Maharashtra and Gujarat accounted for 67.1% of project costs sanctioned by banks and financial institutions in financial year 2025-26, according to a Reserve Bank of India study.
Maharashtra emerged as the top destination with projects worth Rs 88,880 crore, followed by Gujarat at Rs 78,760 crore and Rajasthan at Rs 48,840 crore.
Aggregate project costs sanctioned rose nearly 19% to Rs 4.4 lakh crore from Rs 3.7 lakh crore in the previous fiscal year, reflecting a stronger private corporate investment cycle.
