Indian stock indices registered a sharp recovery in early trade on Monday, with the Nifty 50 climbing 0.56 percent to 22,545.25 and the Sensex advancing 0.62 percent to 72,359.72.
The market bounce was supported by falling Brent crude prices, softer US employment data, and positive quarterly updates from major financial institutions.
Thirteen of the 16 major sectors closed higher, ending an eight-week consecutive losing streak driven by heavy foreign selling.
