
The Tamil Nadu government awarded a contract to Joyalukkas and Kalyan Jewellers to supply 1,28,499 one-gram gold rings for babies born in government hospitals.
The firms will supply the rings in a 70:30 ratio under the 'Thaimaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam' scheme, which has a total project cost of ₹755.83 crore.
The scheme is scheduled to launch on September 15, 2026, the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister C. N. Annadurai, following a tender process that began on July 14.
