The Allahabad High Court has recalled 100 murder case files from a trial court judge in Uttar Pradesh following his issuance of 22 death sentences in just four months.
Judge Ravi Kumar Diwakar, previously known for the Gyanvapi mosque survey order, delivered these capital punishments between April and August 2026, sparking judicial scrutiny.
The administrative transfer aims to ensure procedural consistency, as the high volume of death penalties within a short timeframe raised concerns regarding judicial discretion and sentencing patterns.
