Doctors Welcome QDENGA Dengue Vaccine Approval Amid Karnataka Spike

The Drugs Controller General of India has approved Takeda’s QDENGA, a two-dose live attenuated vaccine for individuals aged four to 60, to combat all four dengue virus serotypes.

Clinical studies show the vaccine reduces symptomatic dengue by 80 percent and hospitalizations by 90 percent in the first year, though it is not expected to be available during the current monsoon season.

Medical experts in Karnataka state that the vaccine could eventually reduce ICU admissions and healthcare costs by priming the immune system against severe complications like internal hemorrhage.
