NC and PDP Hold Protests Marking 7th Anniversary of Article 370 Abrogation

The National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party held widespread street protests across Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2026, to mark the seventh anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370.

While NC leaders marched in Srinagar and other constituencies, the PDP alleged that several of its party members were placed under house arrest or detained at police stations during the demonstrations.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stated his party remains committed to reversing the 2019 decision, while BJP leader Ashok Kaul celebrated the date as a golden day for ending three decades of terrorism.
