Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot administered the oath of office to 19 new ministers in the first expansion of the two-month-old Karnataka Cabinet led by Chief Minister D K Shivakumar.
The ceremony held at the Lok Bhavan premises on Monday included 19 Congress legislators, though the cabinet currently lacks any female representation after one nominee was excluded.
The expansion fills 19 of the 20 available berths in the 34-member state cabinet, with G S Patil appointed as the new Assembly Speaker and Saleem Ahmed as Council Chairperson.
