Education Minister Ranoj Pegu announced that 360 educational institutions in Jorhat district were damaged by recent floods, with the government initiating infrastructure repairs and academic support for affected students.
The state has sanctioned an initial grant of Rs 2 lakh per school for repairs, with the Education Department preparing to provide additional financial assistance for institutions that lost laboratories and libraries.
Authorities are assessing the status of schools currently serving as relief camps to determine if classes can resume by August 9, while ensuring students receive free replacements for destroyed academic documents.
