Clinical trials show targeted heart drugs fail to reduce cardiac events

Recent Phase 3 clinical trials revealed that targeted drugs developed against specific cardiovascular biomarkers C-Reactive Protein and lipoprotein failed to reduce the incidence of heart attacks and strokes.

Novo Nordisk's ziltivekimab hit its target inflammatory pathway in July but failed to move clinical outcomes, while Novartis reported that pelacarsen missed its primary endpoint despite lowering Lp(a) levels by 80%.

Medical experts note that established interventions such as statins, blood pressure management, healthy diets, physical activity, and smoking cessation remain the most effective preventive measures.
