Wipro revises bench policy as Indian IT companies tighten unallocated capacity

Wipro updated its bench policy effective October 1, permitting employees in Band 2 and below to remain unallocated for up to 180 calendar days before separation under their contracts.

Under the revised policy, the unallocated period is set at 45 days for Band 3 and above and 75 days for employees with disabilities.

Industry estimates indicate that average bench time at large IT-services firms decreased to 35-45 days in 2025 compared to 45-60 days in FY20 and FY21.
