Bangladesh Raises Fuel Prices by Up to 17.4% Amid Global Cost Surge

Bangladesh increased fuel prices by up to 17.4% effective Monday, adding pressure to an import-dependent economy grappling with energy shortages and West Asia shipping costs.

Diesel rose to 135 taka per litre from 115 taka, petrol to 160 taka, octane gasoline to 165 taka, and kerosene to 155 taka.

The Energy Ministry stated that state losses reached 228.76 billion taka between March and August, and the latest hike aims to cut annual losses by 100 billion taka.
