Uttar Pradesh is focusing on utilizing Gram Sabha ponds, reservoirs, and rivers to develop fisheries as a rural livelihood source.
Over 80,000 hectares of ponds and 2,205 km of rivers have been leased for fisheries, increasing fish production significantly.
Fish production has risen from 6.29 lakh tonnes to 15.90 lakh tonnes in the last eight years due to scientific fish culture and improved management.
