Smriti Mandhana was appointed captain of the Indian women's cricket team across all formats by the BCCI on Tuesday after Harmanpreet Kaur stepped down from the role.
Harmanpreet, who led India to the 2025 ODI World Cup title, relinquished her captaincy following a BCCI review meeting in Guwahati assessing recent team performances.
Mandhana, 29, was the second-highest run-scorer at the 2025 World Cup with 434 runs and led Royal Challengers Bengaluru to WPL titles in 2024 and 2026.
