Twenty-five-year-old Dane Milne was arrested on Saturday night after a flight attendant spotted him texting about hijacking a New Jersey-bound United Airlines flight.
The Boeing 737 MAX 8 carrying 150 passengers turned around from 24,000 feet over Arizona and landed back at Harry Reid International Airport after 40 minutes.
Milne was released from the Clark County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond with a court appearance scheduled for Tuesday, while the FAA investigates the incident.
