Authorities released two captive-bred Great Indian Bustards into the wild at Rajasthan's Desert National Park in Jaisalmer as part of conservation efforts for the state bird.
India's captive GIB population reached 98 by June 2026, with 38 born via artificial insemination following the initiation of the revival project in 2016.
The released birds underwent intensive rewilding training at a ₹9.25 crore facility in Ramdevra to prepare them for natural foraging and survival.
