The Supreme Court sought an affidavit from the UP government on action taken against the driver and owner of a sleeper bus that caught fire on the Yamuna Expressway.
The September 23 incident near Greater Noida killed nine passengers, prompting the bench to ask whether the registered owner complied with rules before putting the bus on the road.
The court directed the UP chief secretary, the Centre, and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to respond by the next hearing.
