Congress Alleges Penguin India Censored Sonia Gandhi's Memoir

Congress leader Ashok Gehlot alleged on August 29, 2026, that Penguin Random House India pressured Sonia Gandhi to remove sections critical of the PM, RSS, and China.

Gehlot claimed that while Penguin Worldwide was willing to publish the memoir 'Belonging: A Journey of Love' in its original form, the Indian branch demanded editorial changes.

Party leaders including Kamal Nath and Gaurav Gogoi criticized the publisher's stance, labeling the alleged suppression of the book as a threat to freedom of expression.
