The Supreme Court refused to entertain an appeal filed by music composer Ilaiyaraaja against a Delhi High Court ruling regarding the song En Iniya Pon Nilave.
A bench of justices JB Pardiwala and K Vinod Chandran upheld the division bench's decision that Ilaiyaraaja holds rights only in the musical tune, not lyrics or sound recording.
The copyright dispute arose after a production house used a recreated version of the song after obtaining a licence from Ilaiyaraaja, which music label Saregama contested.
