The BJP appointed former minister Smriti Irani as a national general secretary and Ram Madhav as a party vice president in a major organizational reshuffle announced Monday.
The new team includes eight national general secretaries, with Piyush Goyal returning as treasurer and Biplab Kumar Deb joining as a general secretary, while Arun Singh and Dushyant Gautam were dropped.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the appointees, noting the team's focus on grassroots connection ahead of upcoming assembly elections, including those in Uttar Pradesh early next year.
