The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved a one-time 'mercy attempt' for eligible MBBS students from the 2019-20 academic year onwards.
This transitional relaxation allows students to clear the First Professional MBBS Examination if their cases are pending and they meet specified conditions.
The maximum permissible duration for completing the MBBS course remains 10 years from admission, with this relaxation not extending the overall time limit.
