Snap Inc. will officially launch its augmented reality glasses, Specs, on September 16, with a retail price set at $2,195 per unit.
The company reported second-quarter revenue of $1.6 billion, a 19% increase, while daily active users grew to 493 million from 483 million in the previous quarter.
CEO Evan Spiegel stated that while the glasses are a long-term computing opportunity, mass-market adoption is not expected until the end of the decade as costs and weight decrease.
