BRICS Condemns EU Carbon Tax and Demands Increased Climate Finance

BRICS environment ministers opposed the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanisms during their meeting in New Delhi, labeling them protectionist and discriminatory.

The joint statement warned that carbon border measures could undermine developing nations' efforts to tackle climate change and build economic resilience.

Ministers also urged developed countries to triple adaptation finance by 2035 to support vulnerable nations in coping with climate impacts.
