The match lasted four hours and 38 minutes, with Tiafoe rallying from a 5-3 disadvantage in the third set to eventually triumph in the final-set tie-break.

Tiafoe will face either defending champion Carlos Alcaraz or eighth seed Ben Shelton in his third US Open semifinal appearance in the last five years.
