Poll strategist Prashant Kishor won the Bankipur by-election, marking a significant political comeback after his Jan Suraaj party failed to secure any seats in the 2025 Bihar assembly elections.
Kishor defeated the BJP's Abhishek Kumar in a constituency held by the BJP since 1995, succeeding former legislator Nitin Nabin who resigned after moving to the parliament's upper house.
The 49-year-old campaigned heavily on youth unemployment and migration issues, targeting voters in an area where approximately one-third of the population is under 30 years old.
