The National Testing Agency has approached the AICTE to identify government-run technical institutions capable of hosting computer-based entrance exams, including NEET-UG, starting in 2027.
Institutions must report their IT infrastructure, including operational computer counts, internet connectivity, power backup, and CCTV surveillance, to help build a secure network of Standard Testing Centres.
This transition to online testing follows the 2025 NEET-UG paper leak controversy, with the government aiming to minimize malpractice risks by moving away from private-operator-led pen-and-paper formats.
