President Murmu Assents to Anti-Paper Leak Amendment Bill

President Droupadi Murmu has granted assent to the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, to curb examination fraud.

The new law mandates a minimum five-year jail term and fines up to ₹50 lakh for paper leaks, with organised crimes attracting up to ₹10 crore in fines.

States and Union Territories are now required to establish fast-track courts to ensure trials for paper leak cases are completed within three months of filing a chargesheet.
