Mumbai police deny permission for Manoj Jarange hunger strike

Mumbai police denied Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange permission to hold an indefinite hunger strike in the city starting September 19, citing security concerns during Ganeshotsav.

The six-page refusal letter issued by Azad Maidan police cited potential rule violations, severe traffic disruptions, and stretched security deployment due to festival crowds.

Jarange slammed the decision as dictatorship, accused the Maharashtra government of suppressing his agitation, and vowed to proceed with his march to Mumbai regardless.
