The ICMR has urged citizens to consider flu vaccinations as H1N1 infections surge in Delhi-NCR and other regions, coinciding with the monsoon and post-monsoon influenza season.
Surveillance data from 73 sentinel sites shows that currently circulating H1N1, H3N2, and Influenza B strains match the WHO-recommended Northern Hemisphere 2026-27 trivalent vaccine components.
While the vaccine is not part of the Universal Immunisation Programme, the ICMR advises private access to the shot, which typically costs between ₹2,000 and ₹2,500 per dose.
