A legal text analysis reveals that India has secured an additional preferential quota of 694,853 tons of steel exports to the European Union under a free trade agreement.
The new allocation supplements an existing 946,616 ton WTO quota, bringing India's combined quota to about 1.64 million metric tons annually.
Indian steel exports remain subject to the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and face a 50% tariff for shipments exceeding the quota limit.
