India formally identified 27 locations in Arunachal Pradesh on August 7, 2026, marking them on official Survey of India maps to counter China's attempts to assign fictitious names.
The list includes strategically significant sites such as the Long Ju flashpoint, the Thag La mountain pass, and the Jairampur logistics hub in Changlang district.
The Union Home Ministry stated that the formal identification aims to facilitate accurate recognition of these areas, which include land, passes, a lake, and a monument, on official records.
