Retail investor losses in the Equity Futures and Options (F&O) segment declined by 18% to ₹91,685 crore in FY26, following new regulatory measures by SEBI.
Despite the reduction, the average loss per retail trader remains high at approximately ₹1.17 lakh, according to data presented by the Finance Ministry.
The government continues to monitor the segment closely, with further potential curbs being discussed to protect small investors from high-risk derivative trading.
