The Andhra Pradesh government amended its Sports Policy 2024-2029 in May 2026 to reinstate competitive examinations for sportspersons applying under the state sports quota.

The initial policy introduced under Sports Policy 2024 had raised the sports quota from 2% to 3% and exempted sportspersons from writing District Selection Committee exams.
