Surendra Koli, the central accused in the 2006 Nithari killings who was acquitted in all 13 cases, was found dead on Friday in his tea stall in Haridwar.
Police found a noose around the 50-year-old's neck with no suicide note recovered, and are awaiting the post-mortem report to establish the exact cause of death.
Koli spent nearly two decades in jail before his final acquittal by the Supreme Court in 2025, and had recently started working as a tea vendor in Haridwar.
