Second Migrant Worker Dies Following Terror Attack in Kulgam

A non-local worker named Bhopendra from Chhattisgarh succumbed to injuries on August 1, 2026, following a terror attack in Kulgam, bringing the total death toll to two.

The attack occurred on the evening of July 31, 2026, in the Kelam area, where suspected terrorists opened fire on workers at a local brick kiln before fleeing.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has directed security forces to intensify operations to eliminate the attackers, while security for the ongoing Amarnath yatra has been significantly increased.
