The Comptroller and Auditor General flagged discrepancies in Gujarat’s 100% functional household tap connection coverage under the Jal Jeevan Mission, stating it could not vouch for data reliability.
While the e-Jalshakti portal claimed complete rural coverage of 91.18 lakh households by October 2022, District Annual Action Plans showed 14.84 lakh households were still waiting for connections as of April 2024.
The state government maintained that the mismatch was technical and procedural, asserting that the core goal of providing safe drinking water to all rural households had been achieved.
