Calls grow for awarding Ashoka Chakra to pilot Smit Machchhar

Rajya Sabha MP Milind Deora and the Federation of Indian Pilots have urged the PMO to award Captain Smit Machchhar the Ashoka Chakra for his bravery.

Machchhar successfully landed a flydubai flight in Saudi Arabia on September 30 despite being seriously injured after a cockpit stabbing incident by his co-pilot.

The Confederation of All India Traders has also requested the Centre to grant him the Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak for saving the lives of 174 passengers.
