Bombay High Court Sentences Tarun Tejpal to 10 Years Imprisonment

The Bombay High Court on August 6, 2026, convicted former Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal in a 2013 sexual assault case, sentencing him to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment.

The Division Bench of Justice Neela Gokhale and Justice Amit Jamsandekar set aside a 2021 trial court acquittal, also imposing a fine of ₹5 lakh under Section 376(2)(f) of the IPC.

Tejpal, 62, has been ordered to surrender within four weeks, with his legal team planning to challenge the High Court's conviction and sentencing order in the Supreme Court.
