Tata Trusts rejects N Chandrasekaran's reappointment using his casting vote

Tata Trusts rejected N Chandrasekaran's reappointment as Tata Sons chair, challenging the validity of his casting vote after nominee directors voted differently.

Tata Trusts owns 66 per cent of Tata Sons, where Noel Tata voted against the reappointment while Venu Srinivasan supported it during the September 17 meeting.

Former Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud provided a legal opinion supporting the Trusts, stating the casting vote cannot replace a missing majority.
