Newcastle United has secured a deal worth up to £52 million for 24-year-old Manchester City midfielder Nico Gonzalez to bolster their squad under head coach Matthias Jaissle.
Gonzalez, who recorded 2.13 high turnovers per game last season, joins Newcastle as the club's seventh summer signing following the departures of Bruno Guimaraes and three other senior midfielders.
The transfer follows Manchester City's recent acquisition of Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi for £85.6 million and Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson for £116 million.
