DVAC launches inquiry into alleged ₹4,730-crore sand mining scam

The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption launched a detailed inquiry into an alleged ₹4,730-crore river sand mining scam during the previous DMK government.

The probe was ordered following an Enforcement Directorate complaint revealing illegal sand excavation beyond permissible limits across 28 river-sand mining sites.

Investigators used advanced scientific techniques, IIT-incubated expert assistance, and machine GPS data to establish operations beyond demarcated boundaries.
