Indian stock markets opened lower on Thursday as investors remained cautious after the Reserve Bank of India raised its benchmark repo rate.
The NSE Nifty opened down 61.05 points at 22,542.00, while the BSE Sensex opened 176.54 points lower at 72,462.16.
The decline followed the RBI's unanimous decision to raise the repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.50 per cent and shift its policy stance to calibrated tightening.
