National Award-winning filmmaker Vinod Kapri stated on X that 75% of his film Pyre's shows have been removed within its first week in theatres.
Kapri reported that theatre owners and distributors were instructed to run only a single major film, reducing Pyre's screening count from 400 down to under 100.
The filmmaker urged theatres to give small films a fair chance, while media reports noted the major release was Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, which crossed ₹155 crore.
