The US government has identified India as one of 40 countries allegedly serving as a hub for transshipping Chinese goods to evade tariffs.
White House reports estimate that this 'shadow network' of transshipment has resulted in $19 billion to $26 billion in lost US tariff revenue.
India is now under scrutiny as part of a broader US effort to close loopholes that allow Chinese manufacturers to bypass trade restrictions.
