Kerala-born Nithya Raman Elected Mayor of Los Angeles

Keralam-born Nithya Raman, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, has been elected as the Mayor of Los Angeles, defeating incumbent Karen Bass.

Raman, a Harvard and MIT graduate with a background in urban planning, previously led 'Transparent Chennai' and served on the Los Angeles City Council.

Her mayoral agenda prioritizes the expansion of affordable housing, the improvement of core city services, and the revitalisation of the local film industry.
