Amit Shah assures Christian bodies FCRA Bill is religion-neutral

Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with Christian delegations on August 6, 2026, to address concerns regarding the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026.

The Bill, which may be discussed in Parliament on August 12, includes a provision for a 'designated authority' to manage assets of NGOs if their registration is cancelled or suspended.

Shah assured representatives that the legislation is religion-neutral and not intended to harass any community, while government sources indicated no further changes to the Bill are planned.
