Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey Sign Trilateral Defence Pact

Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey signed a joint defence agreement on August 7, 2026, establishing that an armed attack on any one of the three nations will be considered an attack on all.

The pact follows nearly a year of negotiations and aims to strengthen collective security, building on existing military ties such as Riyadh's 2023 purchase of Turkish drones and Pakistan's technical assistance.

The agreement was finalized in Mecca during a visit by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, marking a shift in regional security architecture amid ongoing Middle East tensions.
