Ebola Death Toll Surpasses 2,000 in DRC

Confirmed Ebola deaths in the Democratic Republic of Congo reached 2,011 as of August 11, 2026, marking the fastest-spreading outbreak on record.

The current 17th outbreak, caused by the Bundibugyo strain, has resulted in 4,381 confirmed cases across five provinces with no approved vaccines or treatments available.

The death toll accelerated rapidly, jumping from 1,000 to 2,000 in less than one month, according to data from the country's public health institute.
