Former DMK Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi Arrested in ₹100-Crore Fraud Case

Chennai Police arrested former Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi on October 26, 2026, hours after the Madras High Court dismissed his anticipatory bail plea.

The Central Crime Branch submitted in a counter affidavit that investigation revealed crores were collected as party fund from private school managements and handed over to the Minister.

The case stems from a complaint against B.T. Arasakumar, who allegedly collected large sums by promising approvals and recognition using proximity to the then ruling dispensation.
