The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee demanded the cancellation of the proposed 11,200-MW Siang Upper Multipurpose Project on Monday.
The party called for the immediate release of arrested protesters, withdrawal of cases under the Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, and revocation of employee suspensions.
Opposition to the dam stems from concerns over the submergence of 27 villages, displacement, and the preservation of indigenous Adi community land and culture.
