BCCI Struggles to Appoint Head of Sports Science and Medicine

The BCCI Centre of Excellence has faced repeated setbacks in hiring a new Head of Sports Science and Medicine since Nitin Patel vacated the position in March 2025.

Candidates including Andrew Leipus and an Australian expert backed out at the last minute, while two other shortlisted professionals are already employed within the current CoE setup.

VVS Laxman confirmed that the role requires a full-time presence in Bengaluru for day-to-day monitoring, as the board seeks to standardize fitness protocols across all state associations.
